John Kennedy, head guide of West Coast Encounters, has worked in the tourism and hospitality industry for over 30 years and has an extensive history in tour guiding. His experience includes:

• Guide Tourism New Zealand’s Visiting Media Programme
• Sea Kayaked Guided in the Abel Tasman National Park
• Self employed walking and driving tour guide.

It is his love of history that brought John to the West Coast 12 years ago where he was one of the founding tutors on the Tai Poutini Polytechnic’s Ecotourism Programme specialising in history and interpretation. With a degree in New Zealand History, John can offer you a unique experience that showcases his love of: the people and the dynamic past of the West Coast.
